Back on the sunny Isle of Wight!

We were pleased to welcome a further 37 Ambassadors at a very hot and sunny Autism Ambassador training day in Ryde, Isle of Wight, on 9 July 2018. We look forward to hearing how they all get on.


Autism Ambassador Conference 2018

Over 100 Ambassadors attended our 2018 Autism Ambassador conference on 26th June at Hampshire County Council in Winchester. It was a great way for Ambassadors to meet and share ideas and good news stories. We had some excellent speakers:

Dr Tony Brown spoke about Mental Health and Autism as dual conditions: Implications for effective intervention.


Sarah Hendrickx spoke about Happiness: an autistic perspective.

Thank you to all who attended and now we will start planning for next year, incorporating your feedback along the way.

Our 500th Autism Ambassador appointed!

We were pleased to welcome a further 22 Ambassadors at an Autism Ambassador training day in Southampton on 18 June. Those trained included our 500th Ambassador, Karen Perham from Hampshire Constabulary. We look forward to hearing how they all get on.

Another 25 Ambassadors appointed

We were delighted to welcome a further 25 Ambassadors at an Autism Ambassador training day in Winchester on 25 May. We look forward to hearing how they get on. We are getting very close to our 500th Autism Ambassador!

 


Training Day at Fire and Rescue Service

We were very pleased to welcome a further 8 Ambassadors at a dedicated Autism Ambassador training day at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service in Eastleigh on 30 April. We look forward to hearing how they get on.

 


Training Day in Eastleigh

We were very pleased to welcome a further 36 delegates at our second training day of 2018 in Eastleigh on 8 March. Again, they all came from a wide range of backgrounds. The Scheme continues to grow.

 


First Training Day of 2018

Our first training day of 2018 took place in Winchester on Wednesday 24 January. We were very pleased to welcome a further 25 delegates, from a wide range of backgrounds. We now look forward to welcoming more Autism Ambassadors during 2018.

 


Training Day in Fleet

Our final training day of 2017 took place in Fleet on Thursday 9 November. We were again very pleased to welcome a further 26 delegates, from a wide range of backgrounds. We have now passed the 400 total of the number of Autism Ambassadors appointed since our launch in May 2015.

 


Training Day in Southampton

We were again very pleased to welcome 34 delegates, from a wide range of backgrounds, to our training day in Southampton on 23 October 2017. We are now getting very close to 400 Autism Ambassadors appointed since our launch in May 2015.


Training Day in Portsmouth

We were very pleased to welcome 29 delegates to our training day in Portsmouth on 22 September 2017. Again, we had a wide range of attendees from the health sector, education, police, fire, Jobcentres, carers, and local charity and community groups. We look forward to hearing how they will be making a difference for people with autism in their workplace and community.


Training Day for Isle of Wight

We were delighted to welcome 48 delegates to our second training day on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday 5 September 2017. We had a wide range of attendees from the local authority, health sector, police, housing, carers, and local charity and community groups. We hope they are now ready to make a difference for people with autism in their workplace and community, and look forward to hearing how they are getting on.


Autism Ambassador Training Day 22 May 2017

A warm welcome to yet another 38 new Autism Ambassadors from schools, organisations, businesses and communities across the region who completed their initial training on Monday 22 May 2017 - enjoy your new role! This now brings the total number of Autism Ambassadors to over 250. Many thanks to IBM at Hursley Park for hosting the event and to Emma, one of our IBM Autism Ambassadors, for making the arrangements.

An Ambassador in every practice initiative is about every practice in our region having an awareness/basic understanding of autism and looking at any reasonable adjustments necessary to make practices accessible to people with autism (whether they be patients, staff, carers or visitors).

The volunteer Autism Ambassador can be any member of staff. The commitment is one day’s free training a year plus whatever they can achieve in their practices during the year.

Our next training days will be in November 2017 and January 2018 in north Hampshire. Please email admin@ascambassador.org.uk for a booking form.

Make your school more Autism-friendly - ‘the smallest of actions can make the biggest difference’

An Ambassador in every school in Hampshire initiative is about every school having an awareness/basic understanding of autism and looking at any reasonable adjustments necessary to make schools accessible to people with autism (whether they be students, staff, parents or visitors). We now have over 100 Ambassadors in schools around the county.

The volunteer Autism Ambassador can be any member of staff or a governor. The commitment is one day’s free training a year plus whatever they can achieve in their schools during the year.

Our next training days will be in November 2017 and January 2018 in north Hampshire. Please email admin@ascambassador.org.uk for a booking form.

A warm welcome to yet another 24 new Autism Ambassadors from organisations, businesses and communities across the region who completed their initial training on Thursday 2 March 2017 - enjoy your new role! This now brings the total number of Autism Ambassadors to over 200.

A warm welcome to our 30 new Autism Ambassadors from Hampshire Constabulary who completed their initial training on Wednesday 11 January 2017. Good luck in you new role and we look forward to hearing how you are getting on.

 


An Autism Ambassador in every school in Hampshire?

An Ambassador in every school in Hampshire initiative is about every school having an awareness/basic understanding of autism and looking at any reasonable adjustments necessary to make schools accessible to people with autism (whether they be students, staff, parents or visitors).

Our first training day took place on 19 October 2016, and was well received by our new 73 appointed Ambassadors from schools around the county


Another 35 Autism Ambassadors appointed in June!

Another recruiting day was held on Thursday 9 June 2016 at Marwell Hotel.

Over 80 Ambassadors are now active across the region.


Another 15 Autism Ambassadors appointed in October!

Another recruiting day was held on Monday 5 October 2015 in Hedge End.

Over 50 Ambassadors are now active across the region.

Another 15 Autism Ambassadors were appointed at the Isle of Wight launch day!

The launch on the Isle of Wight took place on Monday 22 June 2015 in Ryde.


Over 30 Autism Ambassadors were appointed at the Eastleigh launch day!

The Autism Ambassador Scheme was launched on Thursday 14 May 2015 in Eastleigh.



These are some of the volunteers who became the first Ambassadors in the area.

On the day they were introduced to the Ambassador role, received Autism awareness training, pledged how they will make a difference and met fellow Ambassadors.
